The Mastercam Innovator of the Future contest entices students with a real-world manufacturing challenge, celebrity judge, and a chance to win a scholarship. This competition provides the instructor with a powerful motivational tool to get students excited about learning CAD/CAM and the manufacturing process.
Innovator of the Future Winners Announced
Thank you to all of the entrants and their supporters for making 2007 a great year for Mastercam’s IOF competition!

1st Place
Bernie Sievers, Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana
Sievers’ Bonneville 300 mph Club steering stood out as interesting and fresh. The small holes along the bottom and top really added to the sleek racing style of this wheel.

Runner-up
Kenyon Burrell, Eastern Arizona College, Thatcher, Arizona
Burrell’s design combined tradition with a kick and fit perfectly with the Boyd Coddington Hot Rods style.

Honorable Mention
Alex Beranek and Jordan Hinkson, Kenmore Middle School, Arlington, Virginia
Beranek and Hinkson’s steering wheel was styled after the biohazard symbol. Coddington admired the pluck these boys showed by entering a competition typically dominated by college students.
In Memory of Boyd Coddington
It is with great sadness that we learned of Boyd Coddington’s passing. Our deepest sympathies go out to Boyd's family and coworkers. Boyd’s energy, enthusiasm, and love of cars were infectious. It has been an honor to work with Boyd, who has graciously volunteered twice to judge our IOF competition. His efforts towards keeping America’s youth interested in manufacturing are an inspiration to everyone in our industry.
The 2007 competition is now closed for entries. Watch this site for the announcement of the 2007 winner and for information on Innovator of the Future 2008.
