2006 IOF Contest Winner Bernie Sievers
2006 Winning Instructor Doug Bowman Vincennes instituted their innovative 3-year Advanced Manufacturing Program in 2005 after conducting a survey of local manufacturers who unanimously agreed that there was a crying need for technical school graduates with advanced CAD/CAM and CNC skills. Doug has used the Mastercam IOF competition as part of his curriculum since the contest was instituted. "The parts are very realistic. Our students benefit from doing something very similar to what they're going to do when they graduate." says Doug. "Our graduates are getting easily two or three job offers from high-tech manufacturing shops with some of the most prestigious names in automotive, aerospace, and medical device manufacturing." We commend Doug on his excellence in teaching and thank him for his dedication to Mastercam. 2006 Celebrity Judge The guest celebrity judge for IOF 2006 was Paul "Pablo" Huffaker. While attending Southwest Texas University, Pablo was lured away to pursue his interest in the four wheel drive business. In 1993, he teamed up with Dennis Anderson, and together they are responsible for much of the Grave Digger truck evolution. Anderson built the original Grave Digger, but Pablo takes credit for building Diggers #4, #10, #11, #12, #15 and #16. Pablo is a pioneer of the industry; he initiated the use of orbital steering that has since become standard for all monster trucks. He and wife Tina own and operate Racesource, Inc., a custom fabrication and machine shop that uses Mastercam. Pablo and his Racesource parts have earned the trust from many of the top teams in the country and have become a reputable source. We thank Pablo and Tina Huffaker for their involvement in IOF 2006. Their enthusiasm and generosity have been overwhelming. They brought their competition trucks to Vincennes University for a special ceremony and presentation of the Mastercam IOF awards.
